Croeso i Ysgol Clywedog / Welcome to Clywedog School

Dear Parent

I am delighted to have this opportunity to introduce Ysgol Clywedog to you.

Our school continues to go from strength to strength and our recent examination success has continued in 2011.  Outstanding A grade achievements put the gloss on success for students of all abilities. Two students gained 11 A*/A grades and 36 students achieved at least 10 A*-C grades or equivalent.  Over three quarters of the yeargroup scored at least one C grade and an impressive 94% of students achieved the Level 1 threshold.  Our reputation as a caring school is well-recognised.  It will come as no surprise that we continue to look to the future with great confidence.

Our ethos is firmly based on respect, which is promoted in all aspects of school life.  The high quality of our pastoral care and our high expectations of student conduct contribute to a happy and safe environment.  At Ysgol Clywedog we are proud of our students and they are proud of their school.

Our teachers and support staff are committed to providing opportunities for every student to achieve success.  Through high quality teaching we aim to provide the best learning, thereby enabling each student to gain the best possible results.  Our buildings and facilities are also of high quality and provide good conditions for effective learning to take place.

We encourage the full involvement of parents in a successful home-school partnership and expect your support in helping to maintain our standards in school.

When you are choosing a secondary school for your son or daughter, we understand how important it is to obtain as much information as possible.  I hope that you are able to visit us during our open evening on Wednesday 28th September 2011, but if this is not convenient please telephone to arrange an appointment to visit during a school day.  I am confident that you will find Ysgol Clywedog to be a supportive and stimulating environment, with a strong focus on achievement.  We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our school.

Yours faithfully

Dr David J Kirby
Headteacher
